Workshop on Youth and Sustainable Development Goals from 2-5, June 2016 in partnership with Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development at RGNIYD Campus, Chandigarh.

In observance of World Environment Day 2016, Rajiv Gandhi national institute of youth development regional centre (RGNIYD RC) in collaboration with Association of Professional Social Workers & Development Practitioners (APSWDP) concluded a 4 days workshop on Youth & Sustainable development goals. The workshop witnessed the participation of 50 young people from various states of north India making it a successful event with an impact. The workshop was open by the overview discussion on Sustainable development goals & their indicators by Mr. Bikram rana, State NSS officer, Chandigarh. During the four days of workshop, over 15 sessions covered a range of topics including Combating climate change, empowering youth for healthy lives, achieving gender equality, water & sanitation, education for equality & poverty alleviation . In order to sensitize the youth about this year theme of World environment day, an exposure visit to Chattbir zoological park followed by discussion on Go wild for life were also organized. The participants had a learning experience about various SDGs & they also came up with action plans to curb the environmental issues starting from their communities. Apart from the sessions, tree plantation was also done by the participants which aims at enhancing green cover in the region.
